A 420 Christmas: From Dallas, Texas to Denver, Colorado

Christmas 2017

Before we start, let me drop a little knowledge on you about the average temperatures of Home (The Great Dallas, Texas) and The Destination (The Beautiful Denver, Colorado) real quick. Average temperatures in Dallas for December: Lows between 35°-43°F. Highs rarely reach 80°F but it happens. Average temperatures for Denver: Lows Between 13°-21°F. Highs between 38°-48°F. This is our first rodeo.
So, for our 4 day roadtrip, 24 hours alone was on the road. Dallas to Denver is a 12 hour drive, 785 miles to be exact.

It was set in our minds that we @rollinjaneandmary 😉 would spend our first Christmas away from our families. The choice was made, and we had memories to make! We packed our weekend bags and got ready to go. I, Jane, took the car to get all the required maintenance, nothing too crazy. I even asked him, “How’s it looking for a road-trip to Denver?” His response, “Oh yeah! It’ll be no problem. Have a great holiday weekend!”

So Off We Go!

As we travel more and more north, we started to add on more and more clothing. “Hey we can handle this! We from BIG TEXAS, we’re unstoppable, feel me.”

All Packed up.
Burrito To-Go.

First Stop: I-70 Diner, Flagler, Colorado

We made it a WHOLE eleven hours already. It’s time to eat so we happened to stumble upon the cutest little roadside diner. We don’t have any fancy Instagram pictures of our food though, SORRY not sorry. We got some basic breakfast and I DO remember the Biscuit and Gravy being hella good for sure! If you’re passing through and need some grub, go in that thang!

Our Stay

We Airbnb’d. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information on the place now, but the guy we chose had a cool place that was 420 friendly. Traveling to a place with…recreational laws, you can easily find a place to stay that encourages you to enjoy every aspect of their state. 😉 I can’t rememeber the price of the stay but for Christmas weekend, it was super affordable! Here’s our Airbnb link for discounts!

We’ll add some of the photos we do have of us in the joint though!

The AirBnb’s fridge decor. Covered in different strain names! We loved this touch.

We get to Denver Colorado. Its somewhere around 16°F. I have never owned a real coat in my life. While unloading my car, I realized, we may not have properly prepared but its all good. We’re here and we’ll survive. I asked Mary to show me her coat, and she showed me a sweater and a small jacket. She also wore two pairs of gloves, a hat, and a scarf. STILL FREEZING HER TITS OFF. I, on the other hand, had a hoodie under a jacket, and I was ready. OR SO I THOUGHT. An hour out of the apartment, Mary had to share her gloves with me, and at the end of the trip, I lost one and never returned either of them. So sorry. Anyhow, We pack a bowl and pack on as many clothes as we can before setting out to see a few things in Colorado.

Lookout Mountain

Because it was super cold, we didn’t spend too much time on Lookout Mountain, but it was a beautiful place to stop and see!

Mother Cabrini Shrine

Getting up to the Shrine beat my ass but it was a beautiful place to see! Other than being fat and tired, the altitude didn’t help much! Very interesting place to visit though. See http://www.mothercabrinishrine.org/about-us/history for more information.

Garden of the Gods

On our way out, of course we had to see the beautiful Garden of the Gods. Peep my outfit. We did what we could okay. I’ll give you a little hint about the journey after this stop…it just gets worse. But still going strong at Garden of the Gods! Here’s some of that!

Throughout the trip, we made a few OTHER stops too. 😉 Oh and we had Boston Market for Christmas Dinner! Good Shit, LOL.

Christmas of 2017 was a great experience! We would probably buy a coat before we go next time. That was probably the roughest part. We did get to light up, and light up our own Christmas Tree. (I decided to buy one at the nearest Family Dollar to get into the Christmas spirit while we were away from home.) Good memories.
