Rollin’ In Texas Hill Country

This was probably the best one we’ve had to date.

Texas Hill Country, okay. There is so so so much to do, and see. I almost wasn’t sure where to start with it all. This place is known for the rolling hills, wine, and authentic food. We got to see some beautiful hills, and the food was pretty bomb. The wine part, we can’t say because we didn’t go through any of the vineyards or anything. We didn’t even have a drink of wine so…fail. BUT we did eat some bomb ass food, and have our own drinks for our night at the boat. This particular weekend was so full of fun. Get ready for a long one today yal! It’ll be worth it though. I’ll do my best to keep you entertained, and hopefully convince you to visit some of these places yourself.

Back in Florida, Mary and I started up conversation about traveling together. We’ve been best friends for YEARS, and it hit us that we could just take off together, like Fuck it. We were already in Florida, so our energies were feeding off of it all. Now in Hill County, we realized, we absolutely have to document this shit. We are normal people. From the roughest hoods in Dallas. We have damn near nothing to call ours. We were never materialistic though. We needed something that was OURS. We don’t have fancy cameras, or half naked beach pics to share. We just have a few bucks and a car. It can’t get any more real than that. Unless we were walking somewhere? I don’t think we’re ready for that challenge yet. LOL. So, we decided to create an Instagram page, and just be fully raw and real with our IG family.
Now This. 🙂 This trip to Hill Country started to pull those plans together. Like, who doesn’t want to come to this place? Who wouldn’t want to enjoy this?? You didn’t ask for this, but here we are …..sharing our shit with the world!

One weekend get away at a time.

The S.S. Minnow – 1959 Steel Yacht

I’ll share some pictures of the place with you of course, but first let’s talk business. The S.S. Minnow is sitting on land, waiting for you to drop $89 a night for a good time! This has to be the coolest Airbnb we’ve stayed at so far. The cost is decent, considering it has personal artistic touches, and it is very close to the Guadalupe River, and 1 hour away from the beautiful Enchanted Rock. It’s pretty much the perfect hang-out spot for a weekend getaway. Darrin is the owner of the place, and he also is the owner and artist to the Copper Cactus. He was the sweetest guy and he was super helpful with everything! Kayaks also came with the stay! MAJOR COOL POINTS FOR THAT ONE! We urge you to check his place out if you’re looking for a good stay in Texas Hill Country. https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/81161429
Now here’s some snapshots of what that was like, so you get the picture! 🙂

The S.S. Minnow

The yacht was filled with beautiful decor, and some accessories to play dress up. We did just that. Played dress up. I know, we can be childish. But I don’t think that’s ever supposed to leave you. Its important to play, and explore and enjoy the little things around you. EVERY SINGLE DAY. Don’t ever be too embarrassed to have innocent fun. Unless you’re annoying others in public. DON’T BE THAT PERSON. Be decent but have fun. Anywho, he’s some shots of us exploring and playing dress up, on our first night in town!

So, that moment passes then we went to bed.
The next morning, our plan was to make the hour long trip to Enchanted Rock. It was a busy weekend for folks at Enchanted Rock though, we couldn’t even get in!

We decided to pass on it, and find something else to do. Bummed, we headed back to the S.S. Minnow. We decided that we’d go over to the Guadalupe River and see what’s poppin’ there. Darrin, the good fella he is, he suggested we take the kayaks for a ride in the river! He unloaded them for us, and came to the river to pick them up after. He is by far a SUPER HOST. Lol. We have mad love for the guy. HOPEFULLY, we will return and stay at another one of his properties. We will most likely do so, on attempt numero two, Enchanted Rock.

Rollin’ Up and Paddlin’ The Guadalupe River

For some reason, my dumb-ass, (this is Jane) couldn’t get into the damn kayak. Partially because I’m fat, and partly because the place we were trying to just hop in was so weird. Judge me. We made it in, and it was the best thing ever. Usually, when you rent a kayak, there’s an hourly fee, or a daily fee. This particular time, there was no fee, and we were not watching the clock. It was as relaxed as relaxed could be. We raced and just hung out in the water all afternoon. Good Times!

Chillin-Chillin’

After HOURS on the water, Darrin called to make sure we were still alive. He must have gotten the idea that we’re a little uh… a little whatever we are. He worried. LMAO. Here he is, helping me back at land. Mary wanted to get in a good position to catch me slippin. Literally. Camera in hand ha!

the homie, helping a sista out.

I think the guy in the back was entertained, and waiting for us to fuck up too. “Damn it old man, come help or sum, stop staring, cheese and rice.”
After this, it was time to head out to the store, for a night in the yacht.

♫ “I smoke, I drank, I’m supposed to stop but i CAINT.” ♫

Body Head Bangers

After a few laughs and a little puff puff pass, we hit the sheets for the next day!

the following day…
Stonehedge II – Ingram, Texas

We came across this cool roadside attraction. This replica was created by Al Shepperd and his friend and neighbor, Doug Hill. You can find it at 120 Point Theatre Rd S., Ingram, Texas. It’s free to pull over and snap some cute pictures with the art. 🙂

So after that little side adventure, we rolled out to San Antonio. It’s about an hour and 20 minutes away from the Stonehenge Replica.

Japanese Tea Garden – San Antonio, Texas

This beautiful garden is open to the public and free for all! It’s worth a visit, and its a beautiful spot to visit almost any time of year.

Next Up, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch – African Safari
OMG, Everyone looooves a drive thru safari. You get to get up close and personal with most of the animals. The park supplied us with a bag of food for the animals and a map. We felt, AND looked like children through the entire thing! You absolutely do not want to miss our little video clips of the drive. You can see it all @rollinjaneandmary in the highlighted stories. The shit was HILARIOUS. After the drive, there was a small area with a petting zoo, birds, a pond, and some cute little energizer monkeys. We bothered the monkeys for at least 30 minutes. Whoops, lol. It was such a fun experience. Ya know, we really seen some shit we have never seen before, and it was so exciting. Like, the cow for example. WTF?? Imagine having to carry around that heavy ass head? I mean, It’s probably fine, but damn. It has to be a little inconvenient. On a serious note, there were beautiful animals! It was worth every dollar! Adult admission is about $25, and child admission is just under $16. It’s totally worth the money, soooooo I’m not going to say hide your children for a discount. I would never encourage such ideas! HA! Here’s some moments from the safari!

Lit as fuck.

Last but not least, Natural Bridge Caverns! – San Antonio, Texas

Unfortunately the caverns are not free to visit. It really wouldn’t be safe for people, or the caves if folks wandered freely about the place. Tours are scheduled, and you are guided through by a tour guide. You MUST be on time for the scheduled time of tour. If not, you will have to miss out and wait for the next. Parking is free, but the tickets are just a little pricey. And I say “pricey” but it’s not too bad. Just pricey is the right word for broke bitches like us. At least you know we really believe our money is worth it. Each cave is about $25 to enter, but there is a Combo pass that allows you to see both for $35. CAUTION: HOT DEALS! 🙂 The formations had the cutest names. You have to come see them for yourself. There aren’t ANY pictures that can do this place justice. Keep in mind, the cavern exploration can be very physically demanding, as there are a shit ton of stairs and like 99% humiTITTY. (hee-hee, had to do it. CHILDISH.) Here you go,

Ewww, my eyes can’t stop looking.

So, that just about sums up this one. We hope you enjoy reading our blogs, and we encourage you to send us suggestions, or just let us know you can stand to read our shit all the way through! Whatever works for you! LOL.

Happy Travels and Keep Rollin’!
